The Sufferer aims to combine various influences to create a short, but varied listening experience, all within the realms of dark ambient music.

The title track, 'The Sufferer', is an attempt at a more drone based style of dark ambient, relying heavily on one continuous drone as a base to build upon as the piece progresses. It includes quite a few synth pads, a few timpani hits, some audio samples, and a mildly distorted choir.

'The Chains' is an attempt at replicating the sluggish, yet ever moving style of dark ambient often found in horror/thriller films and video games, most notably, Silent Hill. The stuttering synthesiser used in a percussive manner was my base to build on in this piece, which was often assisted by more timpani. This is certainly a grainier, more dissonant piece than the first, combining various harsh synth pads, warped synth leads/fx, choir, and some very mild orchestral elements.

'The Horizon' is the lightest piece of the bunch, despite it having a fair amount of bass-driven electronic elements of its own. Using the wheels on the keyboard, I tried to create some authentic slide guitar sounds that lend the piece some light country vibes, ever so slightly inspired by Mark Morgan's work on Wasteland 2.

I rarely charge for the music I release on Bandcamp, but I'm rather proud of how these turned out despite having not written anything in quite a while, so I hope you'll forgive the small fee. All tracks are available for purchase separately as well as together.
